I get fed up with people assuming all kinds of things about me because I have Asperger's syndrome. Most people are really ignorant and narrow minded about it and don't understand it at all and just make a bunch of dump assumptions about it. I get tired of people not taking me seriously at times, when they assume I can't possible know enough on the subject or understand it, or when they assume it's "all in my head " or when they choose to ignore my opinions, as if they are less valuable than other people's opinions. I get tired of people questioning my judgement or ability to make my own decisions in life. My parents and most of my family have disagreed with most major life decisions I've made and thought I was making a mistake and thought they knew better, but like I've shown every time so far my judgement was right and my decisions were good. When people ask a factual question and I answer it, they usually believe me though, at least when it's on a subject they believe I may know a lot about, because they know that I know many facts and some people actually turn to me for certain kinds of information. People usually give me a strange look though when I answer, like they think I'm weird for knowing things like that. It is important that you remember that you are not stupid or worthless. The people who don't understand you have never been in your situation, so they have no idea what it's like and they base their assumptions on their own ignorance, so the assumptions will rarely be right. Don't let them hold you back and just prove them wrong when necessary so that they'll slowly start to understand that they don't always know better than you.

You should tell/ talk to your family how you feel. They maybe horrified to realise what they are doing/ saying. Always communicate and talk things over, without that, nothing can ever be sorted.

I get real angry over things like this, but you really shouldnt, no one understands, they think they do, but they really really dont, unless someone has had the condition or a simular condition, or there very open minded and understanding, only then will they understand what it's like for you. my family is the same, i have some problems, had them for a very long time, no one understands, but they think they do, and i get some stupid remarks and things said by people, even my own family, but started just letting it go over my head and ignore it.
