Autism / aspergers in adults?
my dad was born before autism aspergers was really well known about so he has not been diagnosed as having either, but he is a very difficult man who cannot seem to understand how other people feel or think. he has incredibly strained relationships with all of his family members and gets very frustrated and angry upset when everyone does not think the same way as him.i could go on and on about his difficulty in understanding others, and he is very obsessive, he talks for hours about subjects that are of no interest to other people and seems completely unaware of the fact that he is boring. he cannot seem to talk about ordinary day to day things that other people talk about.i have done some internet research and am convinced he has aspergers autism albeit mild.how can you get this diagnosed in adults and what help is out there for adults once they have been diagnosed with this condition?any info from other people who have a parent with this condition would also be appreciated as sometimes i find him so frustrating and it always turns into an argument. also, how do i approach him with my concerns that he may have a learning difficulty? he gets very angry if i criticise him in any way? i am 34 by the way and have had some concerns for many years.thanks peeps and have a lovely xmas mine is going to be difficult
How can i get my son a diagnosis? autism/aspergers (long question)?
right im going have to paint the bigger picture here.. my auntie used to work with children with aspergers and it was her who 1st asked me if id thought that dylan had autism.. i laughed and said dont you mean adhd i didnt know what autism was anyway since then ive looked up loads stuff on the internet about aspergers and he has some of the symptoms but im a tad unsure about others. my son is four, hel be five in july and starting school after summer. last year the nursery told me to get in touch with a doctor becuase his behaviour at school was innexcusable and they needed input. i can tell they beleive he has something on autism spectrum aswell they asked me to see a doctor about dylan..i had already been as his behaviour at home was pretty bad too.. the doctor asked me questions which reated to autism i know that now then he sent me to a paedetrician, she took background etc and basicly she didnt think it was aspergers coz he spoke to her with eye contact. even though she said she wasnt ruling it out since then the doctor has sent me to a paedetrician.. the paedetrician has sent me to a psychologist and the psychologist has sent me to another lady who sees my son alone.. " its a playdate" this has gone on over a year.. and dylan has next playdate next week.. his behaviour is out of control if im being honest im at the point i am not coping and nobody seems to be helping me.. i have no authority over him whatsoever and its embarressing.. my auntie got a lady she knew who used to work with kids and diognose kids to come see dylan at my house.. she also with my auntie is adamant its aspergers syndrome and she used work at the centre i take dylan too.. she thinks there panning me off coz im a single parent..dylan lines up his toys has tempers etc and does weird noises or jerks his body or flaps hands and he hits himself in the face but apart from that most of the time he appears normal.. im scared hel get chucked outta school the teachers are losing there patience..i dont know what to do it was that bad today i burst into tears to my auntie on the fone and said puting him into care had crossed my mind........ id never do it.. but dont know what im meant to do to get help........ anyone got experience with this? help please..........

Does this sound like autism/aspergers?
My friend's daughter arrived at my house today after going shopping with her mum. She's 6. I asked her what she had done that day and she told me she'd been shopping. She then continued to tell me the names of all shops visited, what was purchased and how much the whole thing cost. I was blown away by this as I'm 16 and I can hardly remember that In the past when I've been babysitting her I've said to her " look, that car's like your mummy's car," and she has said " no it's not. mummy's car blah blah...." she then lists the details. Maybe she's just got a superb memory, but it's amazing what she comes out with. She's very good at math too, however she is a very sociable child. I'm just concerned that she's showing signs of autism. Are these signs?
If you have a child with autism/aspergers what is the likelihood of having more kids with special needs?

Could I have autism/aspergers syndrome?
Im a 16 year old male, I have an IQ of 152 and have been diagnosed with ADD. But i find it hard to make friends and sustaining conversations unless i am really close to someone . I dont like going through change, and i have several repetitive behaviors such as watching the same DVD for 8 days in a row, or not wanting to change my diet. When i was younger i was very slow to work out peoples emotions, but i dont really have problems with empathizing anymore probably due to my ADD . Could i have it?No I dont have problems reading peoples facial expressions... people with ADD have a lot of empathy so i think that would make up for it...'benjamin d' erm...what?
I believe there is a clear link with Autism/Aspergers and other depressive disorders, what do you think?
Autism Aspergers , Bipolar, Scizophrenic, psychosis, and the list goes on no one knows the answers for any of these and all at points cross over. Everyone I know who has aspergers had manic periods and mood swings, to different degrees and some seem to cope better than others.Could they all be part and parcel of the same condition, and the professional feel the need to over name and confuse us all just one of my crazy thoughts still I'm allowed as have aspergers....What do you think?
