Could i have autism/aspergers syndrome?

Question: Could i have autism/aspergers syndrome?

(Posted by: J_F_H1993 on 2010-01-24 08:13:02)

Im a 16 year old male, I have an IQ of 152 and have been diagnosed with ADD. But i find it hard to make friends and sustaining conversations (unless i am really close to someone). I dont like going through change, and i have several repetitive behaviors such as watching the same DVD for 8 days in a row, or not wanting to change my diet. When i was younger i was very slow to work out peoples emotions, but i dont really have problems with empathizing anymore (probably due to my ADD). Could i have it? No I dont have problems reading peoples facial expressions... people with ADD have a lot of empathy so i think that would make up for it... 'benjamin d' - erm...what?

First of all, don't believe M. He or she has no scientific basis for the claims they make. Contrary to popular belief, psychiatry does. It follows an evidence-based method, if practiced ethically, and applies the methods which are statistically most likely to work for a given mental disorder. Now that I've said that...yes, you could have an autism spectrum disorder. But the truth is, nobody here can tell you that without knowing you. In fact, any one of us could have Asperger's, too. So if this is something you're worried about, go see your GP and try to get a referral to a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist. They'll be able to help you out. I hope this doesn't upset you too much at this point, because even if you do have Asperger's, you've always had it. What would change as a result of the diagnosis? Perhaps you would even get the support you need.

Usually, autism or asbergers syndrome develops when you are born. What you might want to do is talk to your parents, and tell them about what you are dealing with. in the worse case scenario, Maybe the thing you could do after that is go se a doc if you think it's getting worse. Rob.

Sounds like you are shy - maybe social anxiety and maybe a little ocd. see a Dr who can help get you on the right track to control it.

Doubt it, you don't seem to have more than a few minor symptoms that could very likely be associated with other things, and perhaps you're placing too much emphasis into wanting this to be your diagnosis. This is something best discussed with a qualified therapist, who will be able to help you determine what direction to take to ease your worries about what is actually affecting your life at this time.

The only proven depression is from like thryroid problem or lime disease. Psychiatry is not based on science its just a fraud. They are doctors who practice this theory on the side of being docs. There is no medical background to it at all. I was given falses diagnoses as teen and it was all fake. Im happy and take no meds at all, It was only an abusive family in my case. Read about verbal abuse signs and symptoms.
