Since his diagnosis he's improved so much it's amazing. HE started school and he can now count up to five which is a huge improvement. How can you tell if a child has autism spectrum disorder or aspergers?
We had one of my son's 5 year old friends over the other day and he was a nightmare. I didn't really know him before then so I never realised. His parents are REALLY nice and normal and lovely people so I don't think it's upbringing do you think he might have ASD? He was bad at sharing playing together meltdown if he didn't get his own way, snatched off picked on my younger son almost the whole time even though the latter was trying to engage him in play , showed little interest in playing or focusing on one game, just wanted to do his own thing, hard to communicate with, and the most notable thing was that he didn't smile or laugh the WHOLE time. Not once. He just looked flat, hardly any facial expression or emotion. I was exhausted when he left.

How does someone go through life without knowing that they may have an autism spectrum disorder?
Like Aspergers syndrome? I have been trying to find out the cause of my major anxiety and depression for about 5 years now and I have just recently been diagnosed as bipolar, I also am OCD and ADD, and my meds have not been very effective at treating anything. I stumbled across the " Aspie" or aspergers quiz online and took it and it said that I was most likely an " Aspie" . I know that these things cant be used to diagnose but are they fairly accurate when tested against people who actually do have aspergers? Should I bring this up to my psychiatrist to pursue it further? If there's anything to it then It would explain a lot of things but I cant understand how I wouldn't know sooner, Is it common for people to go undiagnosed for decades like this? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Here are my scores on the quizzes.Your Aspie score 177 of 200Your neurotypical non autistic score 44 of 20You are very likely an Aspierdos.net eng poly12c.php?p1 90& p2 97& p3 95& p4 76& p5 88& p6 90& p7 79& p8 73& p9 69& p10 77& p11 89& p12 68 img The other quiz I took my score was 45, and it says that anything over 34 is an " extreme" score.psychcentral.com quizzes autism.htmThank you very much.BTW, My anxiety depression has been a huge problem all of my life, I just started going to the doctor for it about 5 years ago.

Why do mental health professionals prefer to use the term autism spectrum disorder?

Could my 16 month old have autism spectrum disorder?
My son at 10 months was diagnosed with paroxysmal tonic upgaze ptu , and has started showing signs of autism. He never said a word or babbled until he was 1 year old, just after his first birthday he said " mama" then a few weeks later he said " dada." We was very excited that he had finally started talking. Then at 14months he started saying " ye" and " eya" but since using these words, " mama" and " dada" have gone? Ive really try to encourage him to say them, but his reply to everything is " ye" . When excited, he points to the ceiling, never pointed at anything else, just points up when excited. He also flaps his hands, not alot, but he does do it. One thing that he does alot is put his hands over his ears, and pats his head. Only does it at certain times, everytime he crys he does, and when certain songs and themes comes on the tele. He seems to ignore me alot, if he is busy with a toy or watching tv, i could shout his name at the top of my voice 30 times and he would not acknowlege me, and sometimes will look the 1st time. The ptu does sometimes cause speech delays. He has 2 cousins with severe autism. He does make eye contact, loves cuddles, and blows kisses when he hears love you, as we do this when we say love you. He doesnt line things up, he does stack things, but not for really long periods of time. Should i be concerned? Please, anybody with any info would be greatly appreciated.

Any one see a change in child with Autism, autism spectrum disorder, apraxia, ect. With using Choline?
My son is 27 months and not talking. He is very hyper, and has many sensory issues. His diet is poor because of these issues. He had an Evaluation last week and is very delayed in his speech. The more reading I do about Autism, and Apraxia, Sensory issues I see a link between either fish oils, Choline and Vitamin B 12. Has anyone tried these with a child with developmental delays? Speech Delays? ADHD? Did anyone notice a difference in behavior? And what did you try? I have read forums where people switched a vitamin with a Flintstones one with choline and in a child with autism they saw a change almost immediately.
