Question: Just turned 40 last week, poor social skills and still a virgin?

I suspect I might have a mild form of Autism but it hasn't been officially diagnosed yet. Anyways, I have struggled to make friends or even have girl friends. BTW, this is a competence problems more than a confidence problem, because while I believe in myself, I lack the inherent knowledge of how to start or maintain a conversation, thus leaving me to be left out of the dating world, because it is said that taking the initiative is the man's job. Any suggestions?

Become interested in in the people you're trying to talk to. everyone has something they're interested in or enjoy doing. read books like "How to win friends and influence people " and other books on socialization and salesmanship.
