My daughter has been sent out of school and is going back after christmas, but the school recomends i put her in a school that deals with special needs, Im not quit sure but she gets bullied and has one friend, she still wants to stay but the school says if she doesnt calm down, we will send her to a bording school and i dont want that to happen, she has ADHD and is getting tested for Autism as she is doing one last test to get the diagnoses, please answer,

Is she taking any medication for her ADHD - Ritalin for example ? If not, talk to your GP and see if s/ he will prescribe something. If this calms her down the school may not require her to leave. If the test for Autism diagnosis is positive then you need to consider the matter seriously. Many main stream schools have neither the experience nor the knowledge to deal with autistic pupils successfully, although obviously this depends partly on to what extent it is affecting her education and inter-action with other pupils. While you are waiting for the result, take some time to research local facilities which may be of help. By this I mean not only schools, but support groups, hospital out patient departments (maybe child mental health or pediatrics), voluntary organisations (Guides, youth clubs etc).

Hello If I were in your stuation, I would wait for the test results to come through and explain this to the school whilst you are waiting. I would also visit a doctor as there is medication available for kids with adhd that can potentially help. If she needs to go to a special school there is no reason why she cant still see her friend outside of school time. A special school may only be needed for a short period of time, it may not be a permanent move and if they can help her calm down and help her behaviour then she may be able to then go back to a regular school. Try to see it as potentially being a short term option and just see how she gets on. If it helps her to be able to attend a regular school when she is older then it could be a very good move.
